Apple is scheduled to release a free software update to iOS 9 for the iPhones and iPad, as well as iPod on Sept. 9. The new OS will be available for the iPhone 4s and newer, iPad2 and newer, and the fifth generation iPod, according to PC Advisor, basically the same devices that run on iOS 8.
PC Advisor shares some reminders before upgrading your Apple devices to the new iOS 9 as well as how to get the software update.
What to do before upgrading to iOS 9
1. Update the apps installed on your Apple device. Some of them might not work in iOS 9 if they are already out of date.
2. Check the free storage space available on your iPhone, iPad or iPod. The iOS 9 update requires a minimum of 1.3GB of storage to be able to download the new software.
3. Free up some space by transferring photos and videos (which usually take up much space) to your PC. Also let go of those apps you no longer use or need.
4. Back-up your Apple devices to iCloud or computer. Just a precaution in case anything bad happen during update.
5. Fully charge your device to ensure it won't die while updating to iOS 9 because it can take some time.
