LG G4 Note: Removable Battery and Trademark Back Buttons

Earlier this year, when the LG G4 was still inching its way towards its market debut, rumor had it that the company is thinking about switching gears and adopt, much like many other smartphone makers already did, a metal unibody design for some of its future flagship phones.
The LG G4 was out of the question at that time, but word on the street was that the fabled “LG G4 Note” might be the one to bewrapped in a metal case.
The same G4 Note was also hyped as a “super premium” device thatwill surpass the LG G4, but recently, LG’s Cho Juno backpedaled saying that these statements have been exaggerated.
So what will the LG G4 Note have in store for us, you might ask? “Super premium” or not, will it boast a unibody metal design? Well, not if we are to believe the latest rumors. Instead, the G4 Note will continue to offer a removable battery, and will retain the “trademark” back-fitted button configuration.

LG G4 Note: Removable Battery and Back Buttons?

For better or worse, removable batteries are slowly but surely becoming extinct in the world of premium smartphones. In general, they are replaced by an enclosed design and fast charging capabilities. Even Samsung – which was one of the last major smartphone makers to jump on the non-removable battery bandwagon – switched gears with the release of the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Edge+ and Note 5.
However, according to rumors, LG is not yet ready to make this change. The LG G4 Note, which was one of the main contenders for a new design paradigm, will reportedly offer a plastic build, which will allow the inclusion of a removable battery. Furthermore, unlike some of the previous rumors have claimed, the smartphone will retain the back-fitted button configuration that is already a staple feature for the majority of LG smartphones.
While LG’s apparent decision might be tied to the difficulties of acquiring / manufacturing metal chassis, industry watchers also seem to be of the opinion that the company might simply want to capitalize on this particular piece of the market, and continue to offer removable battery solutions to those who find the feature useful.
On the other hand, LG will most likely continue to focus its efforts on further improving other features such as the camera, which might translate into a dual camera setup for the LG G4 Note.
